Maritime transport LCL — less than container load

LCL (less than container load) ocean freight: share a container and pay only for your volume. Own weekly LCL services from Turkey to Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Israel and Jordan, and LCL import to Turkey.

Maritime transport LCL — less than container load

LCL (less than container load), also called groupage or consolidation, means your cargo shares a container with other shippers’ goods. You pay for the space your cargo uses, which suits shipments too small to fill a container.

Neta runs its own LCL consolidation services from Turkey to Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt in North Africa and to Israel and Jordan in the Middle East, and brings LCL cargo from main ports to Turkey with regular weekly voyages.

  • Tunisia LCL departures are regularly planned for Fridays, subject to changes in the vessel schedule.

Own LCL services from Turkey

  • Tunisia: regular weekly groupage, direct to Bizerte, with address delivery to Rades, Tunis, Sousse and Sfax.
  • Algeria and Egypt in North Africa.
  • Israel and Jordan in the Middle East.
  • Djibouti and West Africa LCL through our port connections.

LCL import to Turkey

  • Less than container load (LCL) shipments from main ports to Turkey with regular weekly voyages.
  • Door-to-door groupage transports.
  • Any transport organisation within Incoterms® 2020 (EXW, FCA, CPT, CIP, DAP, DPU, DDP, FAS, FOB, CFR, CIF).

How LCL works

  • Your cargo is delivered to, or collected for, the consolidation point.
  • Shipments from several shippers are planned and loaded together in one container.
  • At the destination port the container is unpacked and each shipment is released or delivered.
  • On the Tunisia service, every load is photographed in the container.

Preparing LCL cargo

  • Pack cargo on pallets or in sturdy cartons, with each package labelled.
  • Give accurate dimensions and gross weight — LCL is priced on volume or weight.
  • Have the commercial invoice and packing list ready for customs.

LCL ocean freight — frequently asked questions

What is LCL in ocean freight?

LCL (less than container load), also called groupage, is a sea shipment that shares a container with other shippers’ cargo. Each shipper pays for the space their goods use.

How is LCL priced?

LCL is usually charged per revenue ton: the greater of the cargo’s volume in cubic metres or its weight in tonnes. Every quote is prepared individually by our freight desk.

Which destinations does Neta serve with its own LCL services?

Tunisia (weekly, direct to Bizerte), Algeria and Egypt in North Africa, and Israel and Jordan in the Middle East. Djibouti and West Africa are served through our port connections.

When should I choose FCL instead of LCL?

When your volume fills a large part of a container, or the cargo must stay sealed and not be handled with other goods. In that case, compare an FCL quote with LCL.

How do I get an LCL quote?
